The Community Pasture Program is the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration's largest and longest-running contribution to soil conservation on the prairies, created in the 1930s. The mandate for the Program is to conserve the land resource, protect it from future deterioration due to drought while utilizing the land primarily for the grazing and breeding of livestock. The program uses cattle grazing as the primary tool, supported by the latest range management science, to maintain a healthy, diverse landscape, which is representative of the natural functional prairie ecosystems.

Le Programme de pâturages communautaires représente la contribution la plus importante et la plus durable de l'Administration du rétablissement agricole des Prairies (ARAP) à la conservation des sols dans les Prairies, lancé dans les années 1930. Le Programme a pour vocation d'assurer la conservation des terres et de les protéger contre toute détérioration ultérieure attribuable à la sécheresse, tout en les utilisant pour le pâturage et l'élevage du bétail. En effet, le Programme prévoit l'utilisation du pâturage comme outil principal, appuyé par les plus récentes avancées scientifiques en matière de gestion, pour assurer le maintien d'un paysage sain et diversifié, caractéristique des écosystèmes fonctionnels de prairies naturelles.
